Light & Shadow Escape

Role: Game Designer, Level Designer

Light and Shadow Escape is a **platformer game** built in Unity. It was developed in just **3 days** for the **ICAT 2025 Game Jam**, where it secured **1st place**. The core mechanics revolve around shifting the main character's form: **Light** for advanced movement like double jump and wall jump, and **Shadow** to phase through solid walls. Players must carefully manage these forms while navigating and scaling complex levels.

Design & Mechanics

  • **Dual-Form Mechanic:** Instantly shift between light and shadow states to interact with or phase through complementary environmental objects.
  • **Dynamic Lighting Puzzles:** Designed levels where light sources can be moved, rotated, or toggled, demanding complex sequence planning from the player.
  • **Progressive Difficulty:** Puzzles scale up to require precise timing and complex sequencing, introducing new elements like movable light reflectors.

Psychological Horror Prototype

Role: 3D Environment Artist, Gameplay Scripter (Blueprints)

This prototype explores themes of paranoia and reality distortion. Set in an abandoned school, the horror comes not from jump scares, but from subtle, persistent changes in the environment that test the player's perception and sanity.

Focus Areas

  • **Environmental Storytelling:** Using subtle changes (e.g., flickering lights, shifted objects) to create dread.
  • **Custom 3D Assets:** Modeled and textured modular assets for a realistic, dilapidated school setting.
  • **Dynamic Soundscape:** Implemented spatial audio to enhance psychological tension without relying on explicit monster cues.

Time Metroid Vania

Role: Lead Designer, Systems Programmer

A Metroidvania focused on time manipulation. The player, a Clock Keeper, gains abilities to rewind, slow, or accelerate time in specific zones to solve environmental puzzles and defeat temporal enemies. The entire city's fate depends on fixing a massive, ancient clock.

Mechanic Highlights

  • **Temporal Abilities:** Implemented three distinct time-altering powers with cooldowns and resource costs.
  • **Non-Linear Progression:** Designed interconnected areas unlocked by gaining new time-based abilities (classic Metroidvania structure).
  • **Time-Based Enemies:** Enemies react differently based on the flow of time (e.g., an enemy only vulnerable when time is slowed).

Shape Shifter (Co-op Puzzle)

Role: Concept Creator, Puzzle Designer

A three-player cooperative puzzle game where each player controls a different geometric shape (Cube, Sphere, Pyramid), each possessing unique physics and interaction properties. Success depends entirely on communication and coordinating their shape-specific abilities.

Core Concepts

  • **Asymmetrical Gameplay:** Cube is heavy/stable; Sphere is fast/rolling; Pyramid is wedge-like/climbing aid.
  • **Environmental Interaction:** Puzzles require combining shapes' abilities (e.g., Sphere rolls onto Cube to reach a high platform).
  • **Trust and Coordination:** Focus on communication tools to solve puzzles where only one player can see the solution element at a time.
